**Job Description**
**AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a motivated, technically skilled Senior Structural Engineer based in the Oakland.** The ideal candidate will have a passion for leading technically proficient teams, designing custom solutions, mentoring mid-level and junior staff, and developing calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications for structural design work on exciting and complex projects.
The Structural Engineer should be capable of leading teams to complete both small and large projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required. Candidates must be well organized, be able to demonstrate critical thinking, be able to work independently or part of a collaborative team and quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
* Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
* Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
* Approves and signs off on work.
* Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
* Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
* Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
* Participates in development of technical proposals.
* Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineer plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Professional Engineer license in the State of California
+ Driver’s License
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Structural Engineering (or Civil Engineering with a focus in structures)
+ Eight (8) years of related experience in the field of structural and seismic engineering
+ Experienced in seismic evaluations and retrofits in accordance with ASCE41.
+ Experienced in seismic design in accordance with the California Building Code and all referenced codes.
+ Experienced in all material types (steel, concrete, timber, masonry, cold form, etc.)
+ Able to use advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments
+ Experience scoping and drafting fees for engineering components of interdisciplinary project work
+ Experienced in Structural Design and Calculation Software
+ Experience and passion for mentoring younger structural engineering staff
+ Skilled in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software (primarily Revit and AutoCAD)
+ Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
+ Ability to perform final quality control check in the field of structural engineering

+ Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000.
