Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design. **Job Summary** The Building + Places Division of AECOM has an immediate need for a Senior Structural Engineer - Hydro for employment in our Oakland, CA office. AECOM's Buildings + Places business line is dedicated to excellence and integrated design solutions. Our B+P team is leading the industry with visionary and forward-thinking projects such as the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA; Liberty Park at the World Trade Center, New York, NY; the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience (Big U), NY; and the LA 2024 Olympic bid. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: + Performs work, which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements + Competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments, plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria + As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations + Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained worker + Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected and may be the first level of direct and sustained supervision of other engineers or technicians + Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects + Works independently with general guidance except for complex and unusual situations + Develops budget, scope and schedule, monitoring adherence for tasks and projects assigned to lead **Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field + 10+ years of related experience with a strong emphasis on hydro structures such as spillways, intake towers, hydro power, hydro tunnels, etc. + California PE License is required + Knowledge of steel, concrete and timber design related to hydro structures + Knowledge of industry standard computer analysis and design software such as SAP, ETABS, etc. + Proficient in current applicable codes (ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, ACI 350 and USACE Engineering Manuals) + Experience preparing technical reports, calculation packages, plans and specifications + Experience providing construction support and client communication + Experience in preparing plans using both Revit and AutoCAD + Previous experience leading the structural aspects of water and wastewater utility projects + Effective communicator who has experience managing others + Highly motivated self-starter with a passion to accomplish goals **Preferred Qualifications** + Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field + Knowledge of Non-linear Modeling and Analysis of Water Structures with ANSYS, etc. + Successful work experience with PG&E, EBMUD, and USACE both as an Engineer and a Project Manager **What We Offer** AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people.
