**Job Summary**
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer II for employment in the Orange, CA office. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional engineer to play a key role in the design and construction of a wide variety of building structures and contribute to a dynamic team of engineers, architects and technicians with a focus on delivering high quality, innovative building design solutions. In this position, you will be an important addition to the Structural Department of the Buildings + Places group, consisting of A/S/M/E/C disciplines all under one roof. Participate in a wide variety of projects including subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, municipal and industrial facilities.

Our people bring deep industry knowledge to help you succeed.The Engineer should have the ability to work independently to perform structural design and management of various types of buildings including seismic upgrade and retrofit of existing structure. Must be technically competent in all aspects of structural engineering. Recommends appropriate actions to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Conduct field inspection and condition assessments and prepare reports. Perform independent peer review of projects designed by AECOM or others. Responsible to direct drafters/designers and less experience engineers.
The responsibilites of this position include, but are not limited to.
+ Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
+ Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
+ Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
+ Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
+ Identifies discrepancies in results.
+ Provides guidance to entry level engineers.Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
+ Must be proficient in structural engineering programs such as ETABS, RAM, RISA and SAP2000.
+ Knowledge of various building codes including IBC, CBC, ACI, AISC and ASCE41 is required.
+ Excellent leadership and communication skills.
+ PE Licensed in the State of California
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
+ 2+ years of related experience
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Master's of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering
+ Ph.D in Civil/Structural engineering with research experience related to seismic design and retrofit and/or in high rise design is preferred.
+ 5-8 years of experience in structural design of steel an concrete building
+ Experience with seismic upgrade and retrofit of existing buildings
+ Experience with nonlinear performance-based design and familiarity with passive energy dissipation device such as viscous dampers and base isolation is highly desirable.
+ SE license preferred
